Map of Australia

This map of Australia also includes New Zealand and part of South East Asia.

Use the arrow buttons at the top left of the map to scroll and the [+] and [-] buttons or slide control to zoom in and out. For finer scrolling click and drag any point on the map. Double click any point on the map to move it to the centre. This is especially useful when zooming in on a particular location. The zoom controls allow viewing all the way from the entire world down to individual houses, trees and other features more than a couple of metres in size (in [Satellite] mode). Note that map rendering is very slow with a dial-up internet connection. A broadband or cable connection is highly recommended.

To search the map, remember that the search is world-wide. So, for example, if you are trying to find the location of the town Mt Gambier, you need to enter "mount gambier south australia" or "mt gambier sa" in the search box. Also, remember that the map is present-day only, so you will not be able to find obsolete placenames.
If you wish to magnify the place found, double click just below the point of its marker to centre it and then click the [+] button one or more times to zoom in as required. On the other hand, if you are searching for a large area, you may need to zoom out by using the [-] button.
